LILLA HOTELLBAREN, SCANDIC MALMEN, MARCH 13
It's time again for the most magical thing I know. To place myself in front of you and sing songs about people and memories and places and infatuations. We're more psyched than ever. More info here: lillahotellbaren.com/band/karinstrom
LIVE AT OBAREN, STOCKHOLM, NOVEMBER 6
November 6, I will gig for the first time with my new Stockholm-based band: Filiph Antonsson on acoustic guitar and keyboard, Jörgen Kjellgren on electric guitar, Christopher Anderzon on bass and Victor Nilsson on drums. This is the first time the songs from from my new project – to write songs about the cities I love – will be played live in Sweden. The pictures above is from a show in NYC last spring.
I can fall in love with cities in the same way as I can fall in love with a person. When I finally managed to meet a decent guy, and had no need to write sad love songs anymore, I wanted to write about my relationship to cities like Stockholm, Tokyo, Nashville, Montreal, New York, Buenos Aires, Kristianstad, London, Los Angeles and Havana.
After six years of producing my own electronic music, I was longing to work with others. A chance encounter on a plane across the Atlantic led to a lunch with indie music champion Greg Vegas, who in turned introduced me to Brooklyn-based producer Mark Ephraim (Joan as a Policewoman, Sophia Knapp). Together with local Brooklyn musicians Kevin Barker, Parker Kindred, Tyler Woods, Sara Press, Brian Geltner and Eric Hoegemeyer we have so far recorded and released three songs: New York, Los Angeles and Stockholm. More to come.
